Terms of Service

Agreement
These terms govern your use of the MarkVault browser extension and this website. By installing or using MarkVault, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not install it.
Who you are contracting with
MarkVault is built and operated by nerd bk — an individual developer, not a company. Contact: support@markvault.app.
When you buy, the payment is handled by our payment provider, which acts as merchant of record and is the seller for that transaction. These terms cover the software licence between you and us.
Your licence
A purchase grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use MarkVault. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription — we will not bill you again unless you choose to buy something.
- Founding licence ($29, first 100 buyers): includes updates for the lifetime of the product.
- Regular licence ($39): includes one year of updates. Continuing to receive updates after that year is optional and costs $19/year. The version you have keeps working whether or not you renew.
What an expired or absent licence does — and does not do
If your trial ends or your licence lapses, MarkVault turns off full-text search and the topic-mining panels. That is the entire effect.
Archiving and export never downgrade. Capture keeps running, your archive stays complete, and full export remains available, permanently and without payment. This is a commitment, not a courtesy.
Acceptable use
- Use MarkVault to archive bookmarks in accounts you control.
- Do not resell, sublicense, or redistribute the software or licence keys.
- Do not attempt to circumvent licence checks.
- Do not use MarkVault to collect or redistribute other people’s content in violation of their rights or of X’s terms.
Dependence on a third-party platform
MarkVault reads data that the X web application loads in your browser. X may change its interface at any time, which can break archiving until we ship a fix. We aim to fix such breakage quickly, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation of software that depends on a platform we do not control.
MarkVault is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by X Corp.
No warranty
MarkVault is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. You are responsible for keeping your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability arising out of or relating to MarkVault is limited to the amount you paid for your licence. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost profits.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
Refunds
See our Refund Policy. In short: 14 days, no questions asked.
Governing law
These terms, and your use of MarkVault, are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
This does not take away the protection of mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country you live in. If you are a consumer, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your own country — we are not asking you to travel to Hong Kong to be heard.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes are described in the extension’s release notes. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
